Berry Heritage Park lies on the old home place of James Wilson Shepherd. Mr. Jim Shepherd built a house on the property in the 1920s. The Larkin Christian family, the Truman Simpson family, the D. C. Grey family and the Mike Brock family all lived in the residence from its construction until the town of Berry purchased it in 2001.
The house was taken down in 2006 and the site was made into a park. A walking trail was constructed that winds around the old magnolia trees giving those that choose to walk there a sense of what it must have been like to stroll the lawn on a beautiful day.
Lights around the park make walking anytime day or night a pleasure. Benches around the park allow those that just want to relax and enjoy the scenery a place to do so.
